Sources
We use primary sources: enterprise agreements on the Fair Work Commission and state tribunal websites, industrial gazettes, awards, education department pay tables and policies, the ATO, Services Australia, AITSL and the registration authorities. Union and media reports are used for context and news, and labelled as such.
Research and fact-checking
Every pay figure is checked against the instrument it comes from before publication, and every page lists the sources it relies on with the date we last verified them. If we can't confirm something in an official source, we either leave it out or say clearly that it's unverified.
Keeping pages current
When a state's pay changes, we update its data file, which updates every page and calculator that uses it. Pages show the date their facts were last checked.
Independence
No department, union, employer, fund or advertiser reviews or approves our content, and nobody pays for coverage. Our revenue comes from optional premium tools.
Use of AI
We use AI to help draft and structure some pages and to power our AI coaches. Every figure on the site comes from the sources above and is checked by our editorial process, and pay data is held in structured files rather than generated text.
