The short answer
A Queensland state school teacher aide starts on $32.1842 an hour (TAOO2, pay point 1), which is $63,814 a year full time on 38 hours a week, under the Department of Education salary schedule updated 1 September 2026. The top regular point, TAOO4 PP4, is $42.6974 an hour. Casual aides get 25% more.
- Teacher aides are on the Teacher Aides' Certified Agreement 2025.
- There are three levels (TAOO2, TAOO3, TAOO4) with four pay points each.
- The agreement schedules a 2.5% rise from 1 November 2026.
- Most aide jobs are part-time, so pay is the hourly rate x your hours.
The teacher aide classification structure
Queensland teacher aides are classified on Operational Officer (OO) levels, which is why the codes start with TAOO. The Department of Education Teacher Aides' Certified Agreement 2025 covers them. It was reported as certified by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission on 17 April 2026 (CB/2026/36), with a nominal expiry of 31 October 2028. School office staff and business managers are on different administrative (AO) scales, covered at the end of this page.

Allowances for Queensland teacher aides
Eligibility depends on your duties. Your school's business manager can confirm which ones apply to you.
Are QLD teacher aides paid in the school holidays?
The department's annual figures are full-time 52-week equivalents. That tells you the rate, but not how holiday pay works for your job. We could not confirm from a primary source whether Queensland teacher aides are paid through the school holidays or only for term weeks, so we are not going to guess.
How to check your own holiday pay
- Read your letter of offer: it should say whether your pay is spread across the year.
- Look at a January payslip, or ask a colleague who has been through a summer break.
- Ask the school's business manager how your hours are set up in payroll.
- Ask Together Queensland or the department's HR area if anything is unclear.
Casual aides are paid only for the hours they work. The 25% loading is paid instead of leave. For how it works in other states, see are teacher aides paid in school holidays.

Each level has four pay points. From TAOO2 PP1 to PP4 is worth $5,165 a year full time. Moving from TAOO2 to TAOO3 or TAOO4 means being appointed to a role at that level, such as a senior aide role. The ALM, EI and Braille points pay the most because they need specialist skills in Auslan, interpreting or Braille.
We have not confirmed the exact timing rules for moving between pay points; your agreement and letter of offer set them out. Schools set the selection criteria for each job, and every role needs a blue card (Queensland's working with children check). See how to become a teacher aide.
School office and business manager pay in Queensland
Schools officers, administration officers and business managers are on the Administrative Officer (AO) stream. For public servants, the DoE schedule's annual figures are based on 36.25 hours a week (72.5 hours a fortnight). Business managers are typically AO6 to AO7, but we have not confirmed that mapping.
See the school business manager salary guide for a comparison with other states.
Pay rises and bargaining status
The Teacher Aides' Certified Agreement 2025 is reported to give 3% from 1 November 2025 (back-dated), then 2.5% from 1 November 2026 and 2.5% from 1 November 2027. Department consultation slides also describe a possible CPI uplift adjustment of up to 3.5% a year if Brisbane inflation is higher than the guaranteed rise. We read the slides only as a search snippet and could not open the agreement itself, so treat these details as reported, not confirmed.
The core public service agreement for AO and OO staff (the State Government Entities Certified Agreement 2023) nominally expired on 30 June 2026, and bargaining was under way in mid-2026. Teachers have a separate dispute; see QLD teacher pay and the pay rise tracker.
