The short answer
Catholic Education Tasmania (CET) teachers are paid under the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024. A 2026 CET job ad listed $72,688 to $118,328, which matches the government Band 1 scale before the March 2026 rise. Government teachers now earn $74,869 to $122,393. We could not confirm whether CET has passed on the 3%.
Catholic schools in Tasmania have their own enterprise agreement, approved by the Fair Work Commission on 1 April 2025, with a nominal expiry of 30 June 2026. It has historically tracked the government scale closely, but the timing of rises can differ.

CET pay vs government pay
The CET figures equal the government rates in force before March 2026. Unverified against the agreement text.
What happens when the agreement expires
The 2024 agreement passed its nominal expiry on 30 June 2026. Under the Fair Work Act, its terms keep applying until a new agreement replaces it. We found no successor agreement confirmed as of October 2026. The IEU Victoria Tasmania represents Catholic school teachers in bargaining.
Things that differ from government schools
- Employer: CET (or the individual school), not DECYP, so your leave, transfer and promotion rules come from the Catholic agreement.
- Salary packaging: most Catholic schools are rebatable employers for FBT, which allows some salary packaging. See teacher salary packaging.
- Isolated-school incentives: DECYP's isolated school payments apply to government schools; don't assume a Catholic school offers the same.
- Graduate step: we could not confirm which step CET graduates start on. Check your offer.
Independent schools in Tasmania
Independent schools set pay through their own or multi-employer agreements, such as the Tasmanian Independent Christian Schools Teachers Multi Enterprise Agreement 2025, which runs to 31 December 2028. Where no agreement applies, the Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2020 sets the minimum. See private school teacher salary and the national Catholic and independent pay guide.
